Back in February, I posted about a new campaign being launched to try and change legislation and give more power to the CAA to protect people with disabilities and their equipment when flying.

This morning, some amazing news! The U.K. Government has published a report outlining the changes to legislation it intends to make to protect those with disabilities when flying ✈️

This includes a change to the compensation that we get when our equipment is damaged and powers to the regulators to impose fines when we’re let down by the airlines.!!! This is monumental news..

I have extracted some key points of the report below. But you can read the full report here

While this is a huge step forward it is worth noting that this new power to fine doesn't give any indication of how the proposed legislation would be used against the airlines if something was to get damaged. We have hope, and we will continue to fight and demand change while we observe to see if it does make a difference.

Special mention must go to Disability Advocate and TV Presenter, Sophie Morgan, and the whole team who continue to work hard to keep pushing forward because while this is a win and a win of every size should be a proud moment, this is only the beginning, with hopefully much more success to come.

It’s a small win on the long journey to change but one that deserves to be celebrated!!
